A finger trap on the thumb allows the Traction Wheel to apply 10 pounds of continuous traction at the thumb CMC joint. Once the skin is incised, traction hooks can be applied in various directions to keep skin and thenar muscles retracted allowing excellent visualization of the surgical site without occupying the scrub nurse. EME Traction Wheel eliminates a great deal of the effort and possible frustration possible with a Colles’ reduction and pin fixation. Instead of hanging weights over the edge of the table, pinning the hand to the surface of the table, the height adjustable EME Traction Wheel with finger traps applied to the index and long fingers elevates the hand off the table surface. This allows free access to manipulate the fracture without losing traction. Then pins can be inserted without effort. The forearm can be easily supinated and pronated for this purpose and for AP and lateral X-rays.
